A Marionette

Like many of her brethren, the journey of her life has been a series of coercion to societal norms and regulations; the meanings of which she still does not know till date.  At different times, she has forced herself to adhere to the rules of convenience laid down by the people who are her guardians-the protectors of her  existence. Never allowed to question, for the fear of being termed rebellious, for the fear of being ostracized, and   for the fear of unsettling her otherwise NORMAL life. Got married when she was told to, had a kid when she was supposed to, working in a role that holds no meaning. She often wonders if she has done anything that appealed  to her mind,to her soul? But at least her guardians are happy, for she seems perfect to them. When people ask"What do you do?' She often tells them, She is still learning!( Learning to make sense of the many baseless norms she has to adhere to look perfect to the society).

Everyday she wakes up to dish out someone’s expectation. Thousands of well-wishers all around having a say in what she does and how she should do it. The list is endless. A midst all these,Never once has  she bothered to know that she has brutally injured the existence of a being called "ME";Involved in a  fruitless struggle to rise from imperfection to perfection;all in an effort to please a few. What did she gain?

Now she fights the battle of taking control of the reigns of her life, placing herself first before others, living up to her dreams and desires and daring to step out of the boundaries of societal expediency. She knows, by cutting off her strings she shall scramble the expectations of many and probably encounter the wrath of a few. But…Who cares? The freedom of mind levitates one to new levels of  existence. And here she goes...
