When Death Came Knocking…

Death once came and sat on the window sill
Unsure of what he should say to her
He decided to wait and see

He pulled back the drapes to have her glimpse
The ghastly eyes saw Rose absorbed in mundane things
Oblivious, she lived with the sands of time trickling through

Each dawn came with a sparkle new
From it arose the boundless joys she ever knew
Touching the lives of many known and unknown

Her child nestled in tender love
Her mate delighted by the sensual tease
Her parents protected under the boughs of well-being

Gleefully, for years she healed the sick and suffering
Her melody freed them all from the shackles of misery
Together today they dance in perfect harmony

Death knows his wait is futile
For her life is entwined with numerous beings
It’s a choice death has to make; to leave with many or none

The drapes are drawn as dusk sets in
With faith burrowed deep within
A fearless soul marches ahead, into another day, into another life
