A Song to Remember

A SONG TO REMEMBER

I waited into the stillness of the night,
Until dawn came and covered me with a mantle of golden light
It washed away all my wishes and hopes
Along with a hundred things I wanted to confide.

I walked and walked for miles.
In vain; the thoughts slithered in
Every moment, every memory-
Flashed across my mind.

Those were the days...

A song, amidst the cacophony of life's beats
I thought, I was a master and none I paid heed
Until one day...
A Captain, I met at the bay,

Wispy and frail...

Many a treacherous path I tread under his mighty gaze
There were battles fought and storms survived
There were moments of triumph and despair
Events to cast one's fear aside

Sometimes dark clouds lurked the sky
In the perils the Captain oft stood
Swiftly sailing us to a harbour safe
And then one day, the hull came floating by

 Alas! But the Captain...

Your thoughts knew no wrong.
Your words wise and strong
 In goodness you shone
I confess, I was my best when you were around

Seasons rolled and my song was complete.
A song now forbidden to splendor's delight
I reach my doorway, reminiscing the days gone by
Weary eyes seek you in the horizons bright

A gentle breeze ruffles my hair.
Tears dribble
It hurts that you are gone
Yet another day, when hopes were wilted and wishes died

A storm again gathers under the red sky.
It's not long before I sleep
Oh, Captain!  I want you to know
Where ever you are, you will always be thought of lovingly.
